Have you heard about Instagram Guide?
Instagram Guide is a long-form content wherein creators are free to share resources, tell stories, give tips, and more. If you love publishing Carousel posts, this feature is best for you.
It was actually released on the platform earlier this year but was only accessible by limited creators that focuses on mental health and well-being to expand the sharing of information about the worldwide pandemic.
But in the third week of November, Instagram Guide was now making it available to everyone as many different creators find it useful and relevant to share more valuable content.
According to the Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri’s Tweet:
“You asked for it and it’s happening. We’re expanding our Guides feature – meaning you can now curate and share products, places, and posts you love no matter where you are.”

Though some accounts don’t have access yet with that Guide – just keep your patience as it will definitely come in the following weeks.
To help you understand this feature more, here are some things you need to know about the Guide:
-
Instagram Guide has its own tab on your profile but similar to IG Reels, the tab will only appear once you have created at least one Guide.
-
It only allows you to create a Guide that contains posts that are already in your profile and on Instagram. You can choose from your own posts, saved posts, or search/browse page.
-
Instagram is pushing shopping on the platform so this is a huge advantage for brands and influencers.
-
There are three types of Instagram Guide:
-
Places: Recommend places in your city and beyond
-
Products: Recommend your favorite products
-
Posts: Recommend posts you created or saved
-
Creating a Guide is very easy since its contents are already curated. Here are the 3 Steps to Create a Guide:
STEP 1: Tap the “+” icon at the upper right corner of your profile page
STEP 2: Choose the type of content: Places, Products, Posts
If you choose Places, you can type the location, restaurant or hotel that you want to add:
If you choose Product, you may type the username of the brand you want to include to your Guide:
If you choose Posts, you may select from your posts or from your saved posts:
STEP 3: Choose the posts you want to feature then add its title & description.
Now that you know how to create a Guide, here are some ideas you can do:
-
If you’re a traveler or photographer who loves to post photos of places and food, you can create a Travel guide, Essential lists when traveling, Top 10 favorite places, Your top pick photos, or even a Must try Food to eat in a certain location.
-
If you’re an influencer, you may create a guide about the product you are promoting, your makeup tutorials, or your favorite OOTD.
-
If you’re an artist or painter, you may post your Artwork Collection, feature other artists, or the brand you are using.
-
If you’re a beauty blogger/influencer, you may create a list of skincare essentials or tips about makeup.
-
If you’re a fitness coach or enthusiast, you may share your Progress Updates or your Personal Journal
-
If you’re a business coach, this feature is perfect to give tips and detailed strategies.
