Hi,June here

Voice Search?

The world is growing and changing faster than we can even imagine. The level of technology today cannot compare to the technology 50 years ago, 20 years ago, heck even 10 years ago. And with technology, comes new trends and revolutions. One of those just might be voice search.

You probably have an idea what voice search is. You use your voice instead of typing when searching for something! As the day goes by, voice search keeps getting bigger and bigger. Some even say it will take over the future of social media marketing.

However, is that really the case? Today we’ll take a look at these statistics to determine what could this entail in the future.

The Statistics You’re looking for

1.)  From 13% to 55% of households in the U.S. will have a smart speaker device by 2022

  • Imagine if more than half of all households having smart speaker devices. Granted, it doesn’t mean that they have them, they’ll always be used. But you can bet a huge sum of household will be utilizing this technology that’s available to them regularly. As voice search technology improves, the more easier it is to use than typing. The more easier something to do is, the more people do it.

2.) There have been an estimation of one billion (That’s 9 zeros!) voice searches per month in January of 2018

  • That’s nine zeros happening per month! And this will only increase as time goes by. While it may still be a small amount when compared to traditional text search, it’s without a doubt growing with an incredible rate.

3.) 1 out of 4 users have used voice assistant during holiday shopping in 2017

  • If you’re looking to sell a product, chances are during holiday shopping, 25% of your customers came from voice search. Or that’s at least what the raw statistics tell us. But we know that’s a pretty unrealistic. For 2017, that is! However in 2019, that’s pretty accurate if not higher!

4.) 58% of consumers have used voice search to find local business information within the last year

  • This is especially helpful if you’re business is heavily involved in online marketing. More than half of consumers use voice search to find information about local businesses. You need to start thinking about optimizing your online marketing in the voice search industry too.

5.) 46% of voice search users look for a local business daily

  • Again, don’t underestimate voice search. Especially with business. People just seem use voice search more when it comes to business. I don’t know why that’s the case but that’s what the statistics tell us.

6.) 1 in 5 Adults use mobile voice search at least once a month

  • Heyyy, where my fellow millennials at? I’m also taking part in this statistic, surprisingly. Yes, I use mobile voice search at least once a month, give or take. It’s not that much considering that once a month is only 12 times a year. However, multiply twelve by 20% of adults in the U.S. and you’ll get the true number.

7.) 20% of voice shopping is are due to grocery shopping

  • I don’t know but something tells me that women use voice search more than men. Hmm, I wonder why I think that’s the case.

8.) By 2020, 50% of all online searches will be voice searches

  • Yikes! Talking about rapid growth, this industry just keeps growing. Yes, this is just a prediction and has no certainty. But from the looks of things, that number will be achieved in the next few years if not the next year.

Are you convinced yet!?

If you’re still not convinced, then I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. On the other hand, if you are convinced, don’t panic! All of your SEO and text search strategies are still relevant! They won’t be going away anytime soon. You still have time to prepare for the next big thing. You just have to adapt accordingly.
